Frequently Asked Questions
LINERS
CAREFREE® Breathable liners have a breathable back which lets air circulate, helping you feel more fresh and comfy. They’re ideal for days in between your period for absorbing discharge. Original CAREFREE® liners have a moisture-proof back and give you more protection and are great for those days before and towards the end of your period.
CAREFREE® ACTI-FRESH® liners absorb moisture, sweat or smell away from your body to help keep you fresh and dry. And because they’re super thin, they feel just like your undies.
Yes, you can use CAREFREE® Original liners if your discharge is heavy.
Liners are meant for the days in between your period. Some liners like CAREFREE® Original liners might work for you if your period’s very light, although CAREFREE® tampons or Stayfree® pads are better for periods.
CAREFREE® long liners are 25% longer and even more absorbent than standard liners*so you can use them if you’ve got heavy discharge or spotting to keep your undies feeling fresh and dry.
*vs. CAREFREE® ACTI-FRESH® liners and CAREFREE® BARELY THERE®.
Scented liners include CAREFREE® ACTI-FRESH® liners in Oxygen and Tea Tree, as well as Original and CAREFREE® BARELY THERE® liners with Aloe or Shower Fresh scent. Nice!
Like pads and tampons, you should never flush liners down the toilet. Just wrap them up dispose of them in a sanitary disposal unit or normal rubbish bin.
You might've heard that wearing liners can increase discharge by making you hot and sweaty. This may have been true in the past with older non-breathable panty liners, but CAREFREE® Breathable liners let the air circulate, making that hot and sweaty feeling a thing of the past.
If you’d prefer to wear Breathable liners, look for the CAREFREE® BARELY THERE® range of liners that have a special breathable lining for that fresh feeling all day long.
TAMPONS
CAREFREE® PROCOMFORT® tampons have curved grooves to direct more fluid inside the tampon, helping you feel more confident. Best of all, the special SILK-EASE® cover means they’re much smoother than standard tampons, making them more comfy as well as a whole lot easier to glide in and remove. So they’re great for everyone but especially first-timers and younger girls.
CAREFREE® PROCOMFORT® tampons have a special SILK-EASE® cover that makes them really easy to insert and remove*, as well as curved grooves to absorb more fluid. CAREFREE® FLEXIA® tampons have nifty SOFTFOLDS® wings that catch what other tampons may miss, and give you extra protection against leaks.
*vs CAREFREE® Original Tampons.
The curved grooves on CAREFREE® PROCOMFORT® tampons and CAREFREE® Original tampons direct more fluid inside the tampon. These curved grooves help stop the downward gush of your period so it can be absorbed better, giving you the protection you need so you can get your groove on no matter what you’re doing.
The special SILK-EASE® cover on CAREFREE® PROCOMFORT® tampons makes them silky smooth while preventing fluffiness. Because the SILK-EASE® cover is smoother than normal covers, they’re easier to insert and remove*. Like A-listers in a nightclub queue, they just slide right on in.
*vs CAREFREE® Original Tampons
CAREFREE® FLEXIA® tampons are the next generation of tampons that offer our most advanced protection against leakage. They’re the first and only tampons with four unique SOFTFOLDS® wings – not to help you take off, but to catch what other tampons may miss. (See the next question.)
The SOFTFOLDS® wings are made of soft material that follow the natural curves of your body. Depending on the position your tampon is in (and no matter what you’re doing – contortionists take note), the wings unfold to the shape of your vagina to catch fluid better. The wings then draw the fluid into the tampon to give you extra protection against leaks.
Everyone’s different, so your tampons are a very personal choice depending on your period and whether it’s heavy or light as well as your body size. If you’re just starting out, try CAREFREE® PROCOMFORT® tampons, which have a SILK-EASE® cover making them easier to insert and remove* (you might like to start with the Mini’s). If your period’s heavy then CAREFREE® FLEXIA® tampons give you extra protection against leaks, with unique SOFTFOLDS® wings that catch what other tampons may miss.
*vs CAREFREE® Original Tampons.
Unlike sushi, CAREFREE® tampons don’t have an expiry date and should last for a long time if you store them in a dry place.
Like pads and liners, you can’t flush tampons down the toilet. They not only block the toilet but are bad for the environment. Wrap them in toilet paper then dispose of them in a sanitary disposal unit or normal rubbish bin.
Be extra hygienic during your period, including showering or bathing every day.
Wash your hands before, as well as after, inserting a tampon.
Unwrap a fresh, clean tampon just before using it – don't handle it more than needed or put it on anything unclean.
Don’t insert a tampon if it hurts to do so.
Throw out any tampon you've unwrapped and not used straight away.
Change your tampon 3 to 6 times a day, depending on your flow, and leave it in for no more than eight hours.
Ask your doctor if it's OK to use tampons if you've recently given birth, had a caesarean section, a miscarriage, an abortion or any related procedure.
Only use a tampon when you've got your period.
